Allow me to better introduce myself...
Greetings, hello, and welcome!
My name is Brittany, and I’m a recent graduate (Class of 2021) of the York University / Sheridan College joint program in design, also known as YSDN.
My main areas of focus in design mainly revolve around brand identity, book and editorial design, illustration, and all things typography, including hand-lettering and calligraphy. I approach design by having fun and thinking conceptually, and believe that design is able to inspire and encourage the world around us.
Keep scrolling if you want to learn a little bit more about me! We might even have something in common.
I like/love...
To watch movies and TV shows...my favourite genres are horror and thrillers.
Dogs, especially my 13-year-old West Highland Terrier. He is like a child to me (and also my best friend).
Fries, pasta and anything with chocolate. (Not together, obviously).
Wearing sneakers over any other kind of footwear... even in the summer.
... Did I mention I like dogs?
I'm not a fan of...
Coffee...but I'll drink an iced cappuccino. (Weird, I know).
Overly-crowded and loud places.
Folding the corner of a page to bookmark where I left off. (I am very meticulous with my books FYI).
Any other type of tea besides orange pekoe.
Winter (too cold, so me no like).
Why graphic design?
Growing up, I was always known as "the art kid", so I guess having a creative future was meant to be. I've always loved to be able to create things, and later discovered that design allows me to continue creating, while also having the ability to communicate with, impact and better the world around us.
I see design as a way to help tell a story or carry a concept, inform and expose people to new and important things, and to inspire them along the way. Plus, it also helps that design can be fun.
You're still here? Sweet!
Now that you got to know me a little bit better, feel free to keep it going by checking out my design work here!
